Frequently asked questions about Paint Repairs

Q. How do you match the colour of my vehicle and how do you do the repair?

A. We have a computerised system whereby we enter the colour code from your vehicles VIN plate.  This allows us to mix the paint on site to match your vehicle taking into account it's make, model and year.  We repair and spray the damaged area, limiting the amount of paint so that as much of the original finish as possible is preserved.  A scratched bumper can usually be repaired much quicker and cheaper than replacing it with a new one.

Q. Do I bring my vehicle to you?

A. No. We are based in Chorley but offer a mobile service and travel to your home or place of work.  Our service allowing you to carry on as normal.  All we require is access to a 240v power supply and a place to park our van next to your vehicle.

Q. Do you repair all types of bodywork damage?  Are there any repairs you can't do?

A. As we are a mobile service there are limits as to the equipment we can carry and the types of repairs we complete.  We generally repair cosmetic damage to external paintwork such as minor scratches and scuffs to bumpers, doors, wings, wheels and door mirrors.  We don't tackle structural body damage caused by a major accident and can't repair large panels such as roofs and bonnets. We repair the damaged bumper or panel on the car.

Q. Can you work in all weather conditions?

A. We can complete our repairs in most conditions but if it is too cold or windy or raining very hard then we will try to arrange an alternative date with you. 

Q. Why are there no prices on your website?

A. Every repair is different.  We base our prices on how bad the damage is, where on the car it is, what shape and size the damaged panel is, what colour the car is, what type of material the panel is made out of.  As you can see, there are many variables.  We can usually give you a rough idea of cost over the phone but to give a definite quote we really need to see the car.  All our quotations are free of charge and there is no obligation for you to proceed with the repair.  As we repair the damaged panels rather than replacing them our costs can usually be cheaper than claiming on your insurance or a traditional bodyshop.  Plus, you have the convenience factor of not being without your car for several days or having to use a courtesy car.

Q. Is there a guarantee?

A. Unless otherwise stated we provide a 12 month guarantee against failure of the paint finish.  Any repairs to rust cannot be guaranteed.

Q. Can you repair rust?

A. If the metal is seriously corroded and brittle then there is little that can be done other than replacing the panel.  This is a job for a bodyshop repair.  If there is some minor corrosion that does not affect the structural strength of the vehicle then we can treat it and repaint it.  Such repairs are on an attempt to improve basis only and there is no guarantee that the repair will be 100% invisible and that the rust won't return.
